Who is... Nora!

Did you know Alex Trebek is Canadian? Yup, well now you know! If you don't know who he is, he's the host of Jeopardy! It's pretty cool!

Today I wanted to post a little bit about myself for my new friends. I found this on Sabine's blog as well as Maggie's blog, and thought I'd try it out!

Who is... Nora!

1. What is your name? Were you named after someone else? Do you like your name?
My full name is Nora Francesca Foster. My middle name, Francesca, is my dad's mother's name. I wasn't really named for her, but I pretend I am, because she is a really neat person! I like my name, because it's pretty unique, and it sounds cool!

2. Do you have any pets? If yes, what kinds, and what are their names? If not, why don't you have any pets?
I have a dog named Sutton. My sister named her, because she loves Broadway, and Sutton Foster is a really famous actress. I also have pet fish named Henrik and Daniel, named after Swedish twin hockey players, the Sedins, as well as a snail named Mona, that my other sister named.

3. Do you like to cook? What's your favorite food? Are you good at cooking?
No. Macaroni and Cheese! No. I should not be allowed by a stove, microwave, etc...

4. Where do you live? Have you ever lived in another country from where you do currently?
In currently live in Cincinnati, Ohio. I just moved there a week after Christmas. I am from Vancouver Island on the west coast of Canada. I lived there for most of my life (I BRIEFLY lived in Montreal). My mom got a really important job here, so we had to move.

5. What do you do in your free time?
I'm still trying out where to do my favorite things, here. I love playing hockey, acting, highland dance and studying animals and fish!

6. Do you like sports? What are your favorite sports?
Hockey is my absolute favorite sport! I really like soccer too. I also enjoy the winter olympics.

7. How old are you? Do you like being the age you are?
I'm 10 years old. Being 10 is pretty fun, but sometimes adults underestimate you, and I don't like that.

8. Do you have a religion? What is it?
I'm Catholic, but I don't really go to church, or anything like that. It isn't a big part of my life, and I don't like to talk about it, because people usually judge you.

9. How many languages do you speak? What are they?
I can speak English and French fluently. I also know a little bit of ASL, Italian and Spanish.

10. Who do you live with?
Right now I live with my mom, Robin. My dad, Kenneth, is still in Canada finishing his job, packing things up, and trying to sell our house. He'll be here for good in a few weeks! I have two sisters, Nathalie Quinn Foster and Alice Jacoba "Cobie" Foster, but they don't live with me right now. Nathalie and Alice are both studying abroad, and won't be back for almost a year!

11. What are five things people don't know about you?
1. I want to be a marine biologist or a news reporter when I grow up!
2. I'm really shy.
3. History is my favorite class, even though biology and zoology are my passions.
4. I love fashion, designing, not affording!
5. I am a competitive highland dancers and hockey player.

My Bedroom!

It's been a good week since I posted, but I'm been really busy! Today, I'm super excited to share the first real view of my bedroom! I get it all to myself until my sister gets back from Australia in the summer, so I'm using all the space I can for the time being!

These are my toys! I have Hamtaro rubber toys, and a space shuttle, and some playmobile animals, a rubber duck, a dinosaur, Kanga and Roo, my meerkat family, and my animals from the zoo! The poster in the back is of the 2010 Winter Olympic Mascots! They're names are Sumi, Quatchi, Miga, and Mukmuk! I have stuffed toys of them, but I'm waiting to get that box from Vancouver still, as some of our things are still at our old house.

There are my ghilles, skates, and a pair of shoes. I'm a highland dancer. I'm still looking for a school in Cincinnati, but I practice by myself so I can stay sharp. I am also still waiting for my ice skates from Vancouver, but until then, I can practice with my roller skates.

And because I don't have my fun hockey jerseys or crazy amounts of PJs here, I can fit all my clothes into a chest! It's nice not having many options in the morning, so getting ready is easy!

These are my favorite toys! Mickey the Mountie, Rhonda the Moose, and Franklin and Lily the Pandas!

These tys aren't usually on my bed, because my olympic toys are, but these are nice to sleep with too. The doll's names are Robin and Tessa, the bear is Duffy, and the hedgehogs are Katie and Mickey.

These posters are on one of my walls. I really love the ocean, and maybe I could even be a marine biologist! I also love wild cats, Disney movies, and Muppets! The big maple leafs are from the Olympics.

This is my other wall. The posters are for the Olympic hockey game (Where Canada won!), Victoria (Where I'm from), and the Canucks (My favorite team!)

I don't really like pink, but it's what I have right now. It makes the room seem a little bit more like home now that I've started to settle in.

Do you have something you bring with you when you move or go on vacation to remind you of home?

First Day of School Nerves

On Monday I went to my first day of school at Otter Creek Elementary. Contrary to popular belief, there isn't a creek there, and no otters. However, it's pretty, pretty school on the river! How cool is that!?

Getting ready in the morning has been a pain. We just moved in last week, and I still am living out of my boxes. I didn't do a very good job packing when I was still in Vancouver, and some of my clothes were mixed in with toys. It's a mess!

I finally settled on my warm jeans and Canucks shirt. I couldn't find my green high tops, so I settled for a pair of my flats. I put my panda twins in my bag, just in case I didn't meet anyone to talk to at school, and headed upstairs to leave.

In Vancouver, I rode a bus to school, but now I live close enough that I can walk! It was pouring, but rain doesn't bother me, and there were sidewalks all the way to school. My dad walked with me to make sure I got there safely, and I headed into the two story school all by myself.

My teacher, Miss Ostrovsky, is really nice. She reminds me of Miss Honey from "Matilda". My class was very welcoming, but it still wasn't like home. I met some girls in my class, and some of them even invited me to eat lunch with them! One girl was really interested in my pandas (I knew I should have brought them!) and why I had an orca on my shirt. I told her all about hockey, and guess what - she thought it was cool! I'm going to eat lunch with her tomorrow, and maybe I'll remember her name.

It was still raining when I got home, but not it's snowing! Maybe we'll have a snow day tomorrow! That would be nifty!

What's the weather like where you life? Whatever it may be, enjoy it! :)

Ahoy-hoy!

Hiya!

I'm Nora Francesca Foster. I'm a 10-year-old Canuck (that's what some people call Canadians...) who recently moved to Cincinnati, Ohio.

Since I had to move far away, my mama let me get a blog to post what I'm up to and keep up with friends, while making new ones.

I thought I'd start by introducing myself for my new friends. Like I said, my name is Nora, and I just moved to Ohio from Vancouver, Canada.

I'm REALLY into acting, hockey, and animals. When I grow up (if I ever grow up) I want to be an actress or a zoologist. I think those would be nifty. My favorite animals are okapis, otters and moose, and my favorite movies are The Parent Trap, The Muppet Movie, Enchanted, UP, and Beauty and the Beast. My favorite hockey team is the Vancouver Canucks.

I start my new school, Otter Creek Elementary, tomorrow. I'm really scared no one will talk to me or like me. My dad said I'll be fine, but the butterflies are still eating at my nerves.

How do you handle the jitters when you're doing something new?

Greetings,
Nora
